Villi 2022 Industry Survey Results

Increased business, return to normalcy and BIG, COLORFUL trends highlight annual survey.

Villi distributors hailed a return to normal operations and increased business coming out of the pandemic as their keys to a “more hopeful” 2022 in our annual industry survey.

A majority of respondents, 57%, said the outlook for their company was more hopeful for 2022, despite over 86% reporting some or nearly all of their customer interactions being impacted by the current supply chain crisis. As the world and our industry recover from the unprecedented worldwide health crisis, it was encouraging to hear that more than 60% of survey responses indicated their companies had returned to pre-pandemic business practices.

An unexpected impact from the pandemic mentioned by respondents was increased business from more “serious” buyers despite some slowing of order fulfillment caused by supply chain issues on other industries, pushing tile installations to later in the project.

Specific to glass tile and mosaics, a large majority of respondents stated they see a continued strong market for glass products (71%) and more than (83%) reported a positive outlook for the glass material market in 2022.

Large format tiles of all materials, some new preference for art deco and other bolder decorative patterns and many mentions of bright and vibrant colors were the leading responses regarding Big Trends for 2022.

In all, a very positive outlook and aggressive design choices were the trend in this, our fifth annual survey.
